Discipleship: Growing in Christ Together

    Discipleship: Growing in Christ Together

Now that you’ve given your life to Jesus and followed Him in baptism, what’s next? Discipleship—the lifelong journey of becoming more like Christ. But here’s the beautiful truth: You were never meant to walk this path alone.

    Why Discipleship Requires Community

Jesus didn’t call isolated believers—He built a church (Matthew 16:18). The early Christians didn’t just "pray a prayer" and go their own way. They lived life together, growing in faith as one family:

"All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer." (Acts 2:42, NLT)

You need the church, and the church needs you. Here’s why:

    1. Growth Happens in Community

    • Iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17) – Other believers will challenge and encourage you.
    • We learn from each other (Colossians 3:16) – None of us has all the wisdom we need.
    • Love is lived out (John 13:35) – The world sees Jesus through how we love one another.

    2. Protection from Spiritual Danger

    • Satan targets isolated believers (1 Peter 5:8).
    • We warn and encourage each other (Hebrews 3:13).
    • Accountability keeps us strong (Galatians 6:1-2).

    3. We Serve Better Together

    • Your gifts are meant to bless others (1 Peter 4:10).
    • The church is Christ’s body—every part matters (1 Corinthians 12:12-27).
    • Your story could save someone else’s life (Revelation 12:11).

How to Get Connected & Grow

     1. Find a Bible-Teaching Church

Not just a Sunday service—a family where you can:
✔ Hear God’s Word faithfully taught
    ✔ Build real relationships
    ✔ Serve and be served

"Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another..." (Hebrews 10:24-25, NLT)

    2. Join a Small Group or Discipleship Class

    • Study the Bible with others
    • Pray together regularly
    • Do life together—not just meetings, but real friendship

    3. Get a Spiritual Mentor

Find someone in your church further along in faith who can:
    ✅ Answer your questions
✅ Help you avoid mistakes they’ve made
✅ Challenge you to go deeper

    4. Start Discipling Others

You don’t have to be "perfect" to help others follow Jesus. Share:

    • What God’s teaching you
    • How He’s helped you through struggles
    • The hope you’ve found in Christ

    This Is Just the Beginning

Discipleship isn’t a program—it’s a daily walk with Jesus and His people. There will be highs and lows, but you’ll never walk alone.

    Your next step?
➡ Commit to a local church this week
➡ Join a small group (ask your pastor how)
➡ Find one person to learn from and one to encourage

"Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives." (Colossians 3:16, NLT)

Heaven is cheering you on—and so are we! 🎉
